Symbolism of the Living Water Logo

The Living Water, marriage and family therapy logo became a personal endeavor to visually capture our placement in the therapeutic process. We thought you might be interested in how we decided on the final design.

Hand:

The hand is that of Christ and the person who you see for therapy. Often someone arrives to our office with a need for hope. Hope for the future; perhaps the hope of a new marriage or a new perspective on life. We are often the holders of hope for those who cannot see past their circumstances. In Scripture, hands are used to represent assistance, healing, and support. Isn’t that exactly what you expect from therapy?

Assistance

Exodus 17:11-12
As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.

Healing

Matthew 20:30-34 (NIV)
30 Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” …32 Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked. 33 “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.” 34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight…

Support

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Water:

The water droplet represents God as Living Water. The water “crown” and the “crown” of the King of King and Lord of Lords can be seen in the palm of the hand. The water, however, is not contained and the life changing healing can seep through (the support) into the lives of those who enter the office.

As you can see, the multifaceted symbolism of the logo encompasses the acknowledgement of the true healer in therapy, as well as the position held by the staff. We are honored to serve you.
